Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa, rises on the Tanzania - Kenya border, well into the Eastern half of the African continent. Towering above the Tanzanian plains so close to the equator (3.04 degrees South), the snowclad mountain leads a spectacular existence on the African plains. So spectacular that well into the nineteenth century, much of mainland Europe refused to believe eyewitness accounts of its existence. In our own time, Kili (as it is affectionately called by the climbing community) is a proud member of two exclusive clubs viz. seven summits of the world (composed of the tallest mountain in each of the seven continents) and seven natural wonders of the world.
December end to March and June to beginning of October when the weather is more likely to be dry are the popular climbing season for Kilimanjaro. These months also tend to be the busiest on the mountains

The Miyar Adventures Mount Baker climb is meant for experienced hikers looking to start mountaineering. Our professional guides will help navigate the route, home to mountain streams, blue glaciers, and vistas spanning to the Puget Sound. This amazing setting will be our classroom as we learn and practice the do’s and don’ts of alpine travel. In preparation for the trip, guides will help each participant find the elusive balance between packing too much and leaving something critical behind. We will host a gear check at least three days prior to the climb to ensure everyone is prepared. After this trip you will have the skills and experience necessary to participate in intermediate climbs such as a climb of Mt. Shukson, more challenging routes on Mt. Baker, and climbs of other peaks in the Cascades and potentially overseas.
Skills Covered during the climb:
• Selection of personal equipment and packing for a glacier climb
• Ice axe positions and self-arrest techniques
• Use of crampons
• Walking techniques with and without crampons
• Climbing knots

Note: Depending on weather conditions, we may change the summit day to the second day of the itinerary and sleep-in on the third day for a relaxed hike out. There could be other changes due to bad weather, unsafe route conditions, or for other reasons beyond our control.
